North By Northwest is a suspenseful thriller that leaves you on your seat through many moments of the film. One example of the literal cliffhanger moments was in the ending scene. Especially when the rock broke underneath Eve I legitimately jumped, then you see roger catch her. The moment is perfect then you see the bad guy step on Rogers hand and it makes you believe it is the end. Then Lester is killed and they get their happy ever after. Which really surprised me because of how his other movies go.
Also I loved a lot of the cuts but my favorite one was actually from the end of the movie when you see roger pull eve up from the cliff and she ends on top of him on his bed. Showing that they made it back safe and now they’re going home. Overall I really loved the movie and the characters were very well worked out and the they all stood out.

This week I watched venom. Venom was a very cinematic movie. In the trailer I thought the CGI was going to be very poor. But in the actual movie I thought it was very good and there was only one point where he stretched off of Eddie so it was a cool idea just poorly executed.
I also believed that Tom hardy played Eddie Brock really well. And he did the perfect voice for venom. I found out that he did both voices and i couldn’t believe it. You could really see the chemistry between venom and Eddie. It was a very interesting dynamic and I loved the parasite line. Overall I really enjoyed the movie. It was a very interesting movie and it was very different from the normal superhero movie. The only thing I didn’t like was that the final fight with riot felt very fast. But overall I thought riot looked very cool, probably cooler than venom himself. The cabinet of Dr. Caligari was a very interesting film, I don’t really know if I liked or disliked it too much because it was a silent film. It was very hard to focus and the story just was hard to follow.
I did enjoy the visuals though, it felt like the movement wasn’t forced or rushed, and the story did actually have a very nice flow to it. When the main character found out who Dr. Caligari was really excited me because of how cool of a plot it was. The story itself wasn’t bad at all, it was just there was a lot of fluff in my opinion, stuff that didn’t need to be added. But my favorite part of the movie was the ending where it was showed that Francis was actually an inmate in the asylum. That really changed the whole tone of the film and there are many films today that use that same dynamic. This week I watched The Cowboys starring John Wayne. He is absolutely amazing in this movie. This movie didn’t have too many effects, but it did have some cool shots. For instance when the cook walks in on the boys all out of bed and the kids all run across the room to get in bed and you see a cool zoom in on his face. The scene where the child gets trampled is also very well done and it is a heart breaking moment in the story. Usually I have problems with child actors but in this movie they were all really well done and beautifully cast. I couldn’t tell you all of their names because none of them really stood out to me that much except for the oldest one who was a little cocky. It’s ok that they’re not memorable though which is fine, as long as they didn’t hurt the movie it’s fine. The Cowboys was a very good film and it really embodies John Wayne’s acting and how he was the greatest cowboy to ever live. He really pushes this movie to be a good movie and not a bad movie, without him the movie would fall short, but it is a very good classic. I watched Shawshank redemption this week. This movie really made me feel for the prisoners inside of jail. You here of the story of red and Andy. Both men are very different in that Andy didn’t commit a crime but he was put in there, while red did commit a crime but it was when he was 18 and he was still in there as an old man. He was 18 and he was put in for so long. You really feel for both of the characters and you see the horrors of prison.
The movies color also was very dark and gloomy in the prison, but anywhere outside of the prison was bright and vibrant. Also the use of sound like when he was busting the pipe and he used the rock and sound of thunder and lightning to escape. This whole scene was emotional because you didn’t know if he was gonna get caught or if he was gonna get away. I also enjoyed the ending, this is where color really comes into play. He is on the beach with Andy and it is so beautiful and bright. Also the tree where Andy hid the money for red was full of color to represent hope in my mind. I overall loved this movie and would maybe even put it on my top 5 I watched Forrest Gump this week and I am always very impressed when I watch this movie. The movie has a lot of very amazing plot points and story just flows like water making it enjoyable for anyone who wants to watch it. Even kids can enjoy it, even though some scenes may not be appropriate for them.
I always wonder how they shoot so many of they’re amazing scenes. For example I wonder how they made the scene where the car is chasing Forrest without actually hitting the persons legs. Or how they made that boat storm scene so believable. It also is really creative filmmaking the way that they put Forrest Gump in past recordings of things that actually happened. I personally really enjoyed watching this movie and me rewatching this movie made me realize that I should’ve put it on my top 5 list. I really love the castings for this movie, obviously Forrest and Jenny are extremely well cast, but they’re is not one character or cast member that fell short for me at all. I loved this movie and I’m happy that I watched it. I watched jumanji welcome to the jungle this weekend. The movie was very action packed and made me really remember the first movie. I enjoyed the first movie a lot, and I was skeptical about the movie. It really surprised me though. I thought it was better than the first movie by far.
There was a lot better action, better graphics and better characters in general. Jack black did a amazing job to change into the mind of a 17 year old girl. The rock and Kevin Hart were awesome as always. I especially liked the aspect of the rock being a weakling, and Kevin Hart being the strong man. Nick jones’s character was a really cool idea the way that he was in the game for years and his life was mostly inside of a video game and he thought he was in the game for only a few months. I really enjoyed the movie overall, and it had a great story and it was really like watching someone play a video game and them reaction to what happens Generally, but the character actually reacts not just a still moving person which makes the whole concept very enjoyable. |
