This weekend i watched escape room. Normally i hate horror but honestly this movie wasn't even scary. It was more of a suspenseful action movie than horror. I did enjoy the movie though. The movie was very well done and they spent the right amount of time in each room. Also the opening scene was the scariest part of the whole movie so well done to get me excited for it. The characters were also really well done. I couldn't tell you all there names, but i know i liked each and every single one. Also the actual villain was done very well in a manner that showed fear in the character's eyes. It was a good change of movies for me and i loved it.

I watched Aquaman this week and it was a great change for DC. it blew it out of the water with visuals that rival black panther and id say beat infinity war. The story while basic was great. The amount of detail that the movie added shows how much they care. Also the villain was crazy good. They did ocean master perfectly and id say his suit is the greatest suit of the whole movie.
Another breakout star was Amber Heard's mera. Mera was a strong female character and DC is really thriving in this department and need to continue. The way she used her powers were really unique as well. There was one scene that blew me away and i'd honestly say this was one of my best movies of the year. George Lucas is a master of making characters and there is no doubt who one of his best is, Indiana Jones. The original Indiana Jones Raiders of the lost ark is a masterpiece. I had never seen it before and now it’s up there with best movies i've ever seen. The effects were brilliant and the story was so compelling. My favorite moment was when they were trapped in the tomb and all the skeletons jumped out at Marion. It was actually scary but it also was so compelling.
They also didn't leave any desire with the casting of Indiana Jones. Harrison Ford was the perfect choice. He plays a very similar character to Han Solo, but i would say this character is somehow better than him. Id say this movie is up there with my favorites and I can't wait to watch the rest of the movies. I watched ride along because I had literally nothing else to lost. I have to say it is a great movie for someone with that kind of motivation. It’s a lot of stupid humor that I love and I was so tired it landed twice as hard. Overall the plot is actually really good too. The little guy who goes out and is like the worst cop plot is hilarious.
Kevin Hart has a lot of Kevin Hart humor and I love every second of it because him and ice cube mix so well. And it ends with him being fearless and saving his girlfriend when her big brother the cop couldn’t. That’s how I expected it to end, but it really work with the style of movie and I really enjoyed the whole thing. Star wars the phantom menace is a disgrace to the star wars franchise. The movie has a slow pace and is a very poor movie overall. The child actor is poor and the only real redeeming qualities are qui gon jinn and Darth maul. It this movie obi wan seems like a lackluster character. It ruined his wisdom and they do improve this in the later prequels though.
They also ruined the idea of the force for me like the midichlorians, who cares, i enjoyed the mysterious idea of the force and how you had to train forever to use it. Not fly in to a galactic space station full of people that want to kill you and not get a scratch on you. This always bothered me about this movie and they also gave us the most hated character in history, Jar Jar Binks. Overall this is a useless waste of space in the star wars franchise. The original Star Wars was a masterpiece and a real step up in cinema for the time. The movie is revolutionary and changed the art of special effects. The movie has a great dynamic with amazing characters. Han Solo is arguably one of the greatest characters in Star Wars with his amazing charisma. Luke and Leia and very cool characters who play kind of more traditional roles. But mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher play them to perfection.
This wasn’t the first time I have seen Star Wars but it really impressed me again and this time I tried to pay more attention to details like the stormtrooper hitting his head. But most importantly I wanted to see the special effects and I’d say this is my second favorite Star Wars ever and it started a generation of fans Surfs up is a pretty decent movie with a good story line and a very interesting narrative. The movie starts with a baby penguin learning how to surf with his brothers and his mom and it seems like a sweet little movie and the movie jumps forward in time using a jump cut to show that time passed and while it happens a new penguin comes for a surf contest, and I loved this because it was like it’s in the first time in forever something good happens in the Arctic, then it goes to the classic stereotypical swim contest.
but they did have a cool scene where Cody makes his own board and he uses it in the contest and it is a very sentimental moment. Overall I really enjoyed the movie and I was glad I found it. Although being a typical movie it had a good story. North By Northwest is a suspenseful thriller that leaves you on your seat through many moments of the film. One example of the literal cliffhanger moments was in the ending scene. Especially when the rock broke underneath Eve I legitimately jumped, then you see roger catch her. The moment is perfect then you see the bad guy step on Rogers hand and it makes you believe it is the end. Then Lester is killed and they get their happy ever after. Which really surprised me because of how his other movies go.
Also I loved a lot of the cuts but my favorite one was actually from the end of the movie when you see roger pull eve up from the cliff and she ends on top of him on his bed. Showing that they made it back safe and now they’re going home. Overall I really loved the movie and the characters were very well worked out and the they all stood out. This week I watched venom. Venom was a very cinematic movie. In the trailer I thought the CGI was going to be very poor. But in the actual movie I thought it was very good and there was only one point where he stretched off of Eddie so it was a cool idea just poorly executed.
I also believed that Tom hardy played Eddie Brock really well. And he did the perfect voice for venom. I found out that he did both voices and i couldn’t believe it. You could really see the chemistry between venom and Eddie. It was a very interesting dynamic and I loved the parasite line. Overall I really enjoyed the movie. It was a very interesting movie and it was very different from the normal superhero movie. The only thing I didn’t like was that the final fight with riot felt very fast. But overall I thought riot looked very cool, probably cooler than venom himself. The cabinet of Dr. Caligari was a very interesting film, I don’t really know if I liked or disliked it too much because it was a silent film. It was very hard to focus and the story just was hard to follow.
I did enjoy the visuals though, it felt like the movement wasn’t forced or rushed, and the story did actually have a very nice flow to it. When the main character found out who Dr. Caligari was really excited me because of how cool of a plot it was. The story itself wasn’t bad at all, it was just there was a lot of fluff in my opinion, stuff that didn’t need to be added. But my favorite part of the movie was the ending where it was showed that Francis was actually an inmate in the asylum. That really changed the whole tone of the film and there are many films today that use that same dynamic. |
